‘Maestro helped me make the leap from being part of the team, to leading the team’
Lana Rubinstein | General Manager

“Even though I was long term partner, when the time came for me to step in to the role of General Manager I knew I needed help to make the shift and be confident and comfortable being the ‘boss’.
My business partner had always been the ultimate decision maker, but almost overnight that responsibly became mine. While I knew the business inside out, I’d never ‘run’ a business. Over the course of my working life I’ve seen how bad business decisions can have significant consequences and wanted to avoid making poor choices myself.
My business partner and I have very different approaches and I felt that we would benefit from having someone who would bring us together, guide us in making decisions and empower me to step in to the role of leader. Having been a ‘peer’ for so long, I struggled to tell the team ‘I expect this from you’ and hold them accountable.
When I first met with Emily she told me her philosophy was that ‘happy people have successful businesses’ – it struck a chord.
Being recently separated, it really resonated with me – in order to be a good manager and leader, I needed to sort myself out. But equally as importantly I needed someone who knew how to build a successful business, who could help my partner and I articulate a vision and put in place a road map to realise it.
Maestro’s holistic approach just made sense – having access to specialists to advise, guide and assist with systems and processes, sales and marketing as and when I need it is gold.
My team and I have been working with Maestro for over a year now. We know what we’re working towards, how we’re going to get there and are well and truly on the way to achieving the vision.
When we first started working with Maestro it’s fair to say I knew what good looked like, just not how to get there. Working closely with each and every member of our team they’ve guided us in creating a business plan and assisted us in putting in place the resources and culture needed to achieve it. On a personal level, Emily holds my hand, keeps me accountable and helps me stay focussed on the things that will make the boat go faster, rather than the menial day to day stuff.
Maestro advises, facilitates, monitors guides and supports us in doing what needs to be done in order for us realise our plan and vision – the value is enormous.
The approach is dynamic, flexible and holistic. They’ve empowered me to really embrace the role of business leader, giving me the confidence back myself and trust myself. To be confident in the decisions I make and know that I’m making the right decisions. There’s no beating about the bush, they’re straight-shooters who work with a high degree of integrity.
